Why do I love what I do?
When I was younger, I received a MacBook for Christmas and I was introduced to iMovie. This was my first taste of what it was like to record and edit. Every day after Christmas day, I would create an idea, any idea, just so I could film. I was using the MacBook as a camera, I must add!
From that moment on, I couldn’t watch a movie without thinking about it from a production point-of-view. How it would have been shot, continuity and matching action.
From leaving school, I took the path of Film-Making and Creative Media Productions. This gave me the passion I have today as I learnt the ins and outs of all sections of production, bettering myself at every opportunity. It was around this time I got my first camera. It was nothing incredibly fancy, but it allowed me to be more creative when filming and that excited me!
Everyday without fail, I learn something new. I love to learn, and in this industry, things change daily. Every day is a new day, a new challenge.
What is your favourite movie?
I am a massive fan of George A. Romero, The Godfather of the Dead. My favourite movie must be Dawn of the Dead (1978). I went through a faze were I watched a vast amount of zombie related movies and created a list! There were over 50+.
What do you enjoy the most about being on set?
What I enjoy most about being on set is the idea that whilst I am standing there, it’s a completely different world. It may be an old road in Hull, but as the lights are set up and the camera is rolling, it’s this amazing fictional world.
I also really love the setup, the hard-work of creating the vision through props, lighting and camera work.
What do you look forward to about working with Astor Film Productions?
To make a difference, to help any way I can. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a production team and it is my passion. I have recently started, and I have been treated like I have been here years, I feel like I can put my ideas across and they will be heard. I look forward to working with clients and helping create the best content imaginable.
and finally… Do you like Coffee?
Yes, I do.
