It’s no big secret that the video production industry has been affected hugely by the Covid-19 crisis. None of us could have predicted the impact this pandemic has had, on businesses both large and small. With studios beginning to make plans on how to get back up and running once the situation subsides, people are starting to ask the important questions, that will shape the future of an entire industry.
At Astor, we take employee and client safety very seriously. As important as it is to us to provide our clients with the most professional, bespoke video content possible, safety always comes first.
This is why since day one, we’ve been prepared. Our small team size and remote working capabilities are perfect for keeping production running smoothly, even through such unprecedented and testing times. As a production team, we work in pairs or solo, ensuring that group sizes are kept to the absolute minimum. We, employing masks, gloves and anti-bacterial wipes to ensure that all equipment is clean and safe to use. Our rules on who can handle equipment enable us to be certain that no cross-contamination is taking place. It’s important to understand that just because it feels like the world has stopped turning, doesn’t mean we’ve stopped working. No matter the circumstances, we’re dedicated to providing our clients with top quality video content and exceptional remote editing.
A recent example of our work during lockdown is the updated content we produced for Moodbeam, who wanted their customers to be aware of the capabilities of the Moodbeam One while separated from their loved ones. We knew that production would be challenging, but we set about exploring the ways in which we could produce the required content safely and efficiently.

The initial stages of production were relatively unchanged, apart from the omission of face-to-face meetings with the client. Discussions about how to proceed with production were conducted over a Zoom call before the writing phase began. Once the scripts were finalised and approved, we moved on to planning how to shoot the required extra footage in the safest way for both the video producer, and the talent. With restricted movement, completing the shoot at home was the only viable option, and a one-man crew was established as the safest way to proceed, despite that making things a little bit tougher. But we rose to the challenge, completed the shots needed, all while adhering to social distancing rules.
Post-production took place in the same manner as usual, and after a couple of revisions, the client was thrilled with the content we had managed to produce.
While full-scale production is understandably a little way off, Astor still have a huge amount to offer, from one-man shoots to a variety of remote editing options. We might be locked down, but we’re making the best of it, and just because our services are reduced, doesn’t mean the quality is.
We are ready to produce killer content for Your brand.
