Astor Film Productions Ltd has a brand-new service we’d love to tell you about. We recently provided a live production for an absolutely cultured event held at the Hull Bonus Arena. This fun-filled event was held as a night of entertainment for all the Hull City of Culture Volunteers to enjoy. Their hard work throughout 2018 was celebrated in style with a variety of acts from Jugglers and dancers to magicians and singers. We thoroughly enjoyed the event as did the volunteers who attended but for us it was also an opportunity to test our new capabilities of providing live coverage.
We worked in partnership with HPSS to fully cover the event and broadcast the performances live on the big screen. Doing this was new territory for us. We’ve filmed live events before but for the first time with our access to TV camera setups we were able to provide live video feed. This is through our use of the brilliant Blackmagic URSA Broadcast cameras with B4 Lenses.
This is a service we have always strived to be able to provide. With live coverage it broadens the range of productions that we can cater audiovisuals for. Alongside the dedicated team at HPSS, who provide stage, sound and lighting services, we can provide for bigger and better events.
These camera setups by Blackmagic Design are innovative and quickly becoming a popular tool in mainstream TV broadcasting. We’re a big fan of the URSA Mini Pro cameras and these Broadcast cameras have such a similar design but with added functionality and performance tailored for TV signals. On the day of production, they were a joy to operate and we were very pleased with the quality of image which can be seen in the highlight video below.
